The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) is a leading professional organization that supports physicians and healthcare practitioners who seek to treat and prevent the most common chronic diseases with less reliance on prescription medication.
This prestigious group puts the evidence-based approach into practice by helping individuals and families adopt and sustain healthy behaviors, which include better nutrition, increased physical activity, the elimination of tobacco and moderation of alcohol consumption.
Members, both current and potential, needed easy access to the organization’s rich resources, education materials and event information so the non-profit reached out to Enrich for help in reorganizing and re-envisioning their website.
ACLM leadership had a vision for how their updated website would support member needs and that came with specific content goals. While an upgrade to the website’s content management system (CMS) offered new features and benefits, none of the available Wild Apricot templates met the group’s organizational needs.
It was also critical to maintain member access to important resources housed on the site, so creating a parallel website during the development process became necessary.
And the new website also needed to be accessible and presentable across a variety of platforms — something it was not before.
To offer a more engaging home page and website that’s easy for members to navigate, a comprehensive main and secondary navigation includes a sidebar for each main section, as well as drop-downs menus.
For maximum flexibility and with future growth in mind, custom wireframes were built to create a brand new template within the rigid platform.
Color and imagery are used as tools to organize the large amount of copy throughout the website and also reflect the subject matter. Illustrative icons are also featured in several sections, highlighting key programs and resources.
A bright color palette compliments the ACLM red and testimonials are featured at the bottom of each page. The footer activates and engages visitors and members alike, encouraging them to participate and get involved.
Development of the new ACLM website took about 6 months – from the planning phase to final completion.
- Membership has tripled since the site’s debut in 2015. Considering that ACLM was founded in 2004, this statistic is quite remarkable.
